Event Cap Functionality in Marketo
Introduction:
Ever had a "whoa" moment when your event seats filled up faster than a blink? It's a bitter-sweet situation, right? You're excited that your event is a hit, but also stressed because you're now overbooked.
Breathe easy, because we've found a solution in Marketo's Event Cap functionality.
Before Jumping down to the Event CAP functionality, Do you have any other solutions in your mind? Please comment your ideas and workarounds below the comment section.
Our old-school method was to manually check the registrations every day. If numbers got too close to the cap, we'd send out an alert email for each new registration and manually shut down the registration page when count reached the limit. But this method isn't foolproof, and sometimes, we'd still end up overbooked.
Marketo Event CAP functionality:
To access it, just go to the Overview tab in any Event Campaign in Marketo, and under Program summary, voila - you'll see Event Cap.
If you are not able to view the Event CAP in your Marketo Instance Please follow the steps mentioned at the end**
The Event Cap is visible, but greyed out? That just means you need to create at least two Landing pages under the campaign where you want to set up the Event Cap.
Setting Up Your Event Cap: Easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Click "Setup Event Cap", and a window will pop-up. Here, select "Registered", and fill in your desired limit in the Event Cap field.
- Now, pick all the Registration pages involved for your campaign.
- Finally, choose the alternate page that people will see when your event cap is reached. We usually use a waitlisted page with a friendly message for our guests.
After this, just carry out your usual Trigger Campaign Setup to update the status to Registered when someone signs up.
Say you set your Event Cap at 50. The 51st sign-up will automatically get redirected to the waitlisted page, and their status will be updated to Waitlisted by Marketo. Pretty neat, huh?
And that's it! You can also set up an alert email for when someone gets waitlisted, especially handy if you're dealing with a large event cap.
We hope this blog made your life a tad bit easier! Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas on this setup in the comments below.
**Keep in Mind:
- To see the Event Cap Functionality, make sure you're in the new modern Experience view. You won't see it in the old classic view.
- Sometimes, you need to enable the New Experience for individual roles in the Admin section. refer: Toggle Switch | Adobe Marketo Engage
- This feature might not be available for everyone. If you can't see it, just reach out to your Adobe account team.
